Chaldean and Pythagorean: what is the difference?

Both systems convert letters into numbers, but in different ways. The Pythagorean system assigns 1 to 9 in alphabetical order, repeating from A to Z. The Chaldean system assigns 1 to 8 based on the sound of each letter and gives no letter the value 9. That is why the same name can produce different results in each system.

Compound and single-digit numbers

First the letter values are added to give a compound number, then its digits are added until one digit remains. In the Pythagorean system, 11, 22 and 33 are usually kept as master numbers. Many Chaldean numerologists also read the compound number in its own right.
